Near to Nowhere Series 2012- 18
The Near to Nowhere Series is a body of work which began in 2012 with the first of my small oil paintings on wood. These anonymous scenes feature roads picked out by distant lights or winding away into the mist, often at daybreak or as night falls. A group of twelve paintings from the series were shown in ‘Somewhere, Here’ a solo exhibition at AJC Gallery in Hong Kong from December 2014 until February 2015. A further group then formed part of the Imagined Landscapes exhibition at the RWA in Bristol in 2016. Several of these small paintings were selected for art prizes in the UK, including the Threadneedle Prize in 2012 and 2013 at Mall Galleries and NOA 13, 14 and 16 at the Royal College of Art and Mercer's Hall in London.
